Are We Just Friends? ( Chapter 32)

Namumuhay na siya ng tahimik kasama ng taong kanyang pinakamamahal. Ilang taon na rin ang lumipas ng mangyari ang lahat. 5 taon. 5 taon na ang lumipas. Nakatayo siya at ang kanyang anak sa puntod ng isang taong minsang minahal. Iniisip niya pa rin kung bakit, bakit naisipan nitong gawin na iligtas ang buhay niya sa kamay ng isang taong kinamumuhian ang kanyang pamilya. Siya na dapat ang mamamatay, pero ito ang humarang. Imbis, na siya ang mamatay, ito pa ang nagsakripisyo. Ilang taon rin niyang iniisip kung bakit, pero ngayon pa niya napagtanto. Mahal nga talaga siya nito. Naguiguilty siya, bakit hindi niya ito binigyan ng chance. Di sana hahantong sa ganito ang sitwasyon. Pero kung binigyan niya ito ng chance, meron kaya siyang anak na katulad ni Katherine Mae. Napabalik siya sa huwisyo ng magsalita ang anak.

" Mom, I thought we will just visit for 10 minutes? Its almost twenty minutes. I want to go home to Daddy. We are still going to play a game." her 4 year old daughter whined. She looked a lot like her mother. But her eyes was from her father. This cute little girl seemed to look angelic. But, she is a naughty kid. Always do pranks. But she is a talented and intelligent kid. She always gets an A+ on her grades. She may be still in kindergarten, but she has the brains of a 1st graders. She is just like her mom. Who loved books. Sometimes, she outsmart her mom and dad.

"Wait baby, let's stay here for another 5 minutes then go. After that, we'll grab some ice cream." MM grinned. She knows her baby girl would not say no to an ice cream. Her baby loves ice cream. "Alright mom," she said. She looked so bored. " Bye," MM murmured as she stand. She grabbed her daughter's hand and went back to the car.

" How's the visit?" MM's husband asked. Then he pick up Katherine. " Dad, its obviously boring but Mom bought me ice cream." her daughter grinned. MM's husband chuckled. " Well, it was kinda hot outside. Ann and Ivan were doing good. Then I visited him," MM said while removing her shoes.

Ivan finally had the guts to tell Ann what he truly feels about her 4 years ago. Then they got married 2 and half years ago. Ann is expecting a baby soon.

" You still remembered what happened 5 years ago?" her husband asked worriedly. "I dreamed of it once in a while. I just wanted to thank him again for saving my life." she said trying to hide the fear she is still feeling even though it happened 5 years ago.

Yes, the one who tried to killed her died already, but the fact that she almost got killed, she still cannot get over it. Sometimes she could forget, but suddenly those memories will come back in a flash.

Her husband sighed. She still cannot get over it.

" Let's go grab some food outside!" he said cheerfully.

" Daddy, I thought we are going to have some games?" her daughter asked pouting.

" We can still play later Kate." he called her by her nickname. Her daughter doesn't want to be called by her full name, or just Katherine, or Mae. She wanted her nickname that's all. When she was 2 and a half years old, she threw a tantrum because she was called by her full name.

" You promise?" she asked in doubt.

" I do,  baby." he chuckled lightly.

MM was really happy to have a happy family like this. She was happy that she found the right man. Finally, no more spells casted on her. She was free. She overcome her broken hearts.

After a long day, she had settled on the hammock by their house. Kate and her husband had been playing games. She absentmindedly looked at the sunset. Another day had passed. For her everyday that passes is a good day. When that event happened she felt like it will be going to happen again and again. It felt like a million years before she overcome that. Yet, her husband had helped her overcome those. She cannot stand seeing the people you once loved and trust died in front of you. It was a scary sight.

She slowly closed her eyes. She was slowly dozing off.

" Please, stop..." she pleaded. 
" Why would I? I will kill you just like what I did to your parents?" a man laughed evilly. 
" Why are you doing this?" tears flowed down as she watched him aim the gun at her.
There were no sign of survival.
She was cornered...
She cannot stop from crying...
She closed her eyes...
Saying goodbye to the world...
She heard a gun shot...
She flinched...
Then another...
As she opened her eyes she saw two men on the floor.
Blood on the floor...
Blood from the man she once loved.
Blood from the man who tried to kill her...
She was crying, reaching for his hands...
He does not deserve to die... she thought
She can here him whisper, I love you MM...
With that she cried more... 
She looked up and saw the police...
The medics picking them up....
She heard a voice... " MM!"

She woke up, sweat on her face. Worried look from her husband... What a bad nightmare... The memory of 5 years ago, haunted her again...

" It's over. He cannot hurt you again..." her husband reassure her crying wife... He had seen enough... He was there... He was knocked out on the floor when he was trying to save her... But he saw how the guy shot his friend. And how the police shot the guy...

Sometimes, the memory also haunted him... It was the worst nightmare he'd seen in his entire life...

He led her upstairs. The sunset was already replace by darkness. They take a look at their daughter who was sleeping comfortably in her bedroom. They too, went to their bedroom and get some sleep.

Tomorrow, they will have work... Another tiring day...
